Antique Radio Cabinet Restoration
We offer the following antique radio cabinet restoration services at no additional charge as part of our regular service: minor veneer repair, cleaning of knobs, escutcheons and dial covers, and a thorough cleaning and polishing of all types of antique radio cabinets.
Extended Antique Radio Cabinet services:
Refinishing wooden radio cabinets –We try to preserve the original finish on wooden antique radio cabinets if possible. As with any antique, stripping the original finish reduces the value of the radio, and its charm and we will only strip a cabinet’s finish as a last resort. In many cases, we can revive the original finish. When refinishing is necessary, we use the same finishes as the original (normally stain, toning or clear lacquer)
We recommend contacting a local furniture refinisher for restoring console cabinets. Console radio cabinets are difficult to ship without damage resulting.
Polishing Bakelite radio cabinets – We can clean and polish antique radio Bakelite cabinets to bring back their original lustier. We do not repair cracks or missing pieces.
New Plastic Dial Lenses – We can make reproduction plastic dial lenses to replace damaged or yellowed lenses and in most cases can find replacement glass lenses when the original is missing or broken.
